Punjab : There is a reported delay in clearing bills by the Treasury Department, which in turn, has left Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in a financial lurch.
The Treasury Department is yet to clear the financial bills of the institutions, as a result of which, Guru Nanak Dev Hospital has hit a financial roadblock of Rs 55 lakh-the total amount of its dues from the bill.
These bills were submitted before March 31, and have still hit a roadblock. According to the sources at the hospital, affiliated to the college, the bills were submitted before March 31 and these are yet to be cleared.
Tribune reported that the delay in clearing the financial bills of institutions by the Treasury Department has left the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in a peculiar situation as its Rs 55 lakh are still stuck with the treasury.
A hospital official said Rs 55 lakh was a big amount and the hospital would start facing hardship if the amount was not cleared in time.
The delay in clearing bills by the treasury has become a frequent problem with even government employees who complain of delay on various occasions. “Generally, medical reimbursements and post-retirement benefit bills are kept pending for months,” said an employee.
