Rajasthan: Foetus found in ice-box raises alarm bells at SMS hospital
Jaipur: The police discovered a foetus outside the emergency unit stairs of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. Shockingly the foetus which seemed around 4-month-old was packed in an ice-box and left at the secluded place.
As the Passers-by spotted the box, they informed the police chowki stationed at SMS Hospital itself.
The police have lodged the case under section 318 of IPC for concealment of birth by secret disposal of body.
After primary investigations the police have registered a case under section 318 of IPC against unidentified persons towards concealment of birth by secret disposal of body and is investigating the matter. Some registration cards of unidentified women were also found along with the foetus, which are in the reserve of police investigating the case.
Vinod Kumar, investigating officer, Moti Doongri police station told TOI that the police have found some registration card of Sanganeri Hospital belonged to a woman. “A woman's name was mentioned on the registration card. The persons, who have left the ice box, might have forgotten to take out the registration card of the hospital before leaving it at the hospital.”
The police officer also stated that they have sought the help of Mahila Chikitsalaya at Sanganeri Gate. He added “We have asked the hospital to provide each and every detail regarding the woman, who had undergone treatment in the hospital.”
Kumar told the daily that the registration card of the hospital where the women have taken to foetus removal might lead to getting closer to the accused left the fetus in SMS hospital. “The hospital is gathering information and we will act on it.”
