Andhra Pradesh: 520 posts approved for Piduguralla Medical College

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Government has recently approved the recruitment of 520 posts across 45 categories for Piduguralla Medical College, including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and other support staff.
The State is fully prepared to inaugurate the Piduguralla Medical College and commence the undergraduate MBBS course with 100 seats starting from the 2026-27 academic session. This college is being developed under a centrally sponsored scheme, for which the Centre has sanctioned ₹195 crore. The total cost of this project is ₹450 crore, and construction work is currently underway on a 47-acre campus.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC) regulations, the institution requires approximately 700 personnel, including doctors and support staff. Therefore, as per the TOI media news report, about 180 of these positions will be filled through transfers, promotions, and redeployments, while new appointments will be made to fill the remaining 520 positions.
Meanwhile, a virtual review meeting regarding this matter was held on Monday, presided over by Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav. During the meeting, the Minister directed officials to complete all construction works, including the medical college, teaching hospital, nursing college, and hostels, by May 15.
He also set a deadline of the end of April to complete the recruitment process for the staff required to commence academic activities in the 2026–27 academic year.
Earlier this year, Medical Dialogues had reported that to boost medical education in Andhra Pradesh, the state government has decided to start MBBS admissions at Piduguralla Government Medical College from the 2026-27 academic year. The Health Department has submitted a proposal in this regard, which has also been approved by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
