Bihar : Pediatricians to be trained to treat high-risk infants, says Mangal Pandey
Patna: Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said on Thursday that 20 selected Pediatricians would be imparted special training from February 14 to 16 to treat infants with high-risk cases.
Pediatricians are the doctors who manage medical conditions affecting infants, children and young people. General pediatrics is a branch that covers childrens' health from birth to the age of 16. Most pediatricians have this general role. While Neonatology is a branch that specializes in looking after newly born babies.

The selected doctors and health staff would be also trained to use various appliances and would be apprised about the high-quality medical facilities used during treatment.
Senior doctors who have already received such trainings would be imparting the training to the selected doctors and nurses who would further train doctors and staff nurses working at 41 infant stabilization units in the districts.
Pediatric physiology directly impacts the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs that enter the body therefore the drugs prescribed to this age group should e selected accurately because the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination of medications differ between developing children and adults. Despite completed studies and reviews, research is still needed to understand how these factors should affect the decisions of healthcare providers when prescribing and administering medications to the pediatric population.
