CBI takes over Patna NEET aspirant death case

Patna: The CBI has recently registered an FIR and taken over the investigation into the suspicious death of the NEET aspirant from Jehanabad. The case has been classified as a special case under number 7S/26, transferring the investigation entirely from the Bihar Police to the central agency.
According to a TOI media report, officials have stated that the investigation has begun. On this, the special officers from the CBI's regional office have travelled to the agency's headquarters in New Delhi with important records and physical evidence related to the case. The agency is expected to re-examine all aspects, including forensic findings, medical reports, and witness statements, and address questions that remained unresolved in the previous investigation.
Apart from this, the CBI is also in the process of collecting all the necessary documents, evidence, case diary and material which were earlier handled by the state police and its Special Investigation Team (SIT), report TOI.
The case was handed over to the CBI following a recommendation from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the central government amid public outrage, protests, political pressure, and demands from the student's family for a fair investigation. However, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary was the first to publicly confirm the recommendation, emphasizing the need for a thorough and transparent investigation.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that considering the seriousness of the recent mysterious death of a student preparing for the NEET exam at a hostel in Patna, the Bihar government handed over the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Till now, the police have already made several significant revelations, and now this step adds a new development to this high-profile case.
