PGI Chandigarh SR becomes a victim of theft as her bag gets stolen while on duty

Chandigarh: A Senior Resident doctor working at the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) became a victim of theft, when her bag was stolen from the hospital premises. The victim has been identified as Dr. Devangana Bora, a senior resident in the Radiotherapy department at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). The case was filed by Sector 11 police against an unidentified individual for the theft of Dr. Bora's bag.

As per a report in HT, the incident occurred on a Friday when Dr. Bora arrived at the Nehru Hospital Extension (NHE) radiotherapy ward. At around 7:45 am, she entered the doctor duty room and placed her bag there. However, her day took a distressing turn when, at 9:30 am, she noticed that her bag had gone missing.

The stolen bag held essential personal and professional items, including her car key, MacBook, laptop charger, ATM card, PGIMER I-Card, driving license, a gold chain, diamond ring, gold lockets, a pen drive, iPhone charger, and a significant amount of ₹4,500 in cash.

Following the report of the incident, the police took swift action, scanning the CCTV and geo tracking the laptop which led to the arrest of two

"The bag was stolen on October 13. We zeroed in on two suspects by scanning footage captured by CCTV cameras installed in the PGI. The laptop was put on surveillance. The last location of the stolen laptop was found in Sector 10 in Panchkula. A team visited Sector 10 and learnt about the male suspect, Gagandeep Singh. Cops were informed that Gagandeep and his wife were addicts. We developed human intelligence and apprehended them at the border of Chandigarh and Mohali. The bag was recovered from them,” a police officer told Indian Express.
