Corona Warriors face service termination for protesting to receive salaries : FAIMA issues a letter to EDMC in support
Delhi: The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) had recently issued a letter to the Mayor of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) requesting the authorities to release the pending salaries of the corona warriors as as a part of their administrative right.
The medical staff of the EDMC-run hospitals had been protesting to for the immediate release of pending salaries, since February 1.
" We intend to convey on your note the problem pertaining Resident Doctors beneath the jurisdiction of East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) who have now no longer been paid their salaries for four months and it has turned out to be hard for them to satisfy their financial obligations. They are now struggling to meet their daily living expenses and support their families", the letter stated.
In the letter, FAIMA further added, " As you are aware of the current situation, wherein the number of COVID-19 cases in the country is on the rise, our doctors working incessantly to serve the community and to provide the best of the treatments available to their patients. In such a dreadful condition, any of our doctors can be infected while performing their duties. lt hence does not come as a surprise that the doctors have been working selflessly and untiringly amidst fears of being infected themselves yet completely devoted to being able to provide a disease-free state to the patients."
Dr. Rohan Krishnan, the President of FAIMA stated, " Even after multiple attempts of communications with the concerned authorities there was no resultantly fruitful outcome and hence the resident doctors have been compelled to start their agitation,1 February, 2022 onwards, with inside the shape of withdrawal of their services to the hospital. As of now, no such action has been carried out by the Swami Dayanand Hospital Administration in favor of the healthcare workers."
" Henceforth it is a request to expedite the process of releasing the pending salaries and appropriate arrangements by the hospital administration so that the resident doctors who are working day in and day out for the people of our country do not have to face such financial crisis in future. During these difficult times, the doctors of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) stand with the doctors of hospitals beneath the jurisdiction of EDMC. It will be greatly appreciated if these matters are considered with UTMOST PRIORITY! ", added the letter.
Previously Medical Dialogues reported that unpaid for the last three months, the medical staff, including senior and junior doctors, and nursing staff of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation-run Swami Dayanand hospital have been threatened with termination of their services if they continue with their protest over pending salaries. However, they kept on approaching the authorities with their demands.
