3rd Year MD Paediatrics Found Dead, Commits Suicide
Ahmedabad: In another tragic case of a doctor committing suicide, a resident doctor of Ahmedabad allegedly ended his life by injecting an anesthesia drug into his left arm. This is the fourth case of a doctor's suicide in one month in Gujarat.
The deceased has been identified as a resident doctor of Shardaben hospital in the Saraspur area of Ahmedabad. He was a third-year MD (pediatric) student of NHL medical college and a resident of Lavarpur Patia in Gandhinagar. His father is a farmer there. The reason behind his drastic step is yet unknown.
As per a recent media report, the doctor was staying in a room of the boys' hostel in Shardaben hospital. One of his friends went to call him for breakfast at around 9 am on Thursday. However, he spotted the doctor lying unconscious. There was also an empty vial of an anesthesia injection near his bed. His friend immediately rushed to call a doctor. However, it was too late and the doctor declared him dead.
Later authorities informed the police and a case of accidental death was registered with Shaherkotda police. One of the police officers confirmed that the doctor was emotionally distressed as his engagement broke about one and a half months ago. Hospital sources claimed that the deceased was adversely affected by the recent suicides of two of the doctors. The 25-year-old MD medicine student from BJ medical college had committed suicide on March 8 by jumping into a pond in Saij village of Ahmedabad and he was a close friend of the deceased. hence, he was mentally disturbed by the sudden death of his friend, reports Times of india.
"Both doctors had done their MBBS course in the Government medical college in Bhavnagar together for around five years and they became good friends there. his sudden death had shaken Parth," said a doctor from the Shardaben hospital. Moreover, the suicide of another Jaipur doctor who was booked under the charges of murder as one woman patient died of postpartum haemorrhage at her hospital, has also disturbed him. The deceased sympathized with her and kept her picture as his Whatsapp display picture. However, the reason which might have driven the doctor to take the drastic step is yet not been disclosed by his family or friends.
Before these incidents, on March 8, another 21-year-old MBBS student attached to Vadnagar medical college in Mehsana allegedly jumped from the 8th floor of the boys' hostel. On the same day, an MBBS student of Moria Banas Medical college in Palanpur taluka also committed suicide by jumping from the medical college building.
