Dr Ashok Chauhan appointed as Dean of Academic Affairs at PGIMS
Rohtak: Dr Ashok Chauhan has recently been appointed as the new dean of Academic Affairs, Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak.
He serves as the senior professor in radiation oncology in PGIMS Rohtak and also served as Medical Superintendent at the PGIMS for 6 years.
Dr Chauhan was also appointed as the Dean, faculty of medicine and allied departments of PGIMS. Prof. Ashok Chauhan is completed his MBBS from PGIMS Rohtak and did his MD as a postgraduate student of the Department of Radiotherapy, PGIMS Rohtak which was awarded in 1991. He joined as faculty of PGIMS Rohtak in 1993 and was promoted as Senior Professor in July, 1996.
Keeping in view the highly proficient administrative and clinical capabilities, the Institute has assigned him the extra responsibility of Medical Superintendent in 2012 and he served till 2018, the longest duration on this administrative post of PGIMS Rohtak. He has a special interest in Head & Neck, Breast, Gynaecological and Lung cancers. He is a member of 5 National Scientific Associations has more than 100 publications in National and International journals. He was also been awarded the Best Paper Award. He is an excellent research scholar with more than 250 citations to his credit.
After assuming the new position, Dr. Chauhan told The Tribune, " Streamlining the NEET-UG and NEET-PG admissions and bringing a needed improvement in academic activities of the affiliated medical institutes will be my priorities".
Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak is one of the prestigious medical institutes of the country and it was established on June 2, 2008. Acording to a daily, commenting on the appointment of Dr Chauhan as Dean of Academic Affairs, a UHS faculty stated that Dr. Chauhan has significant experience in the academic field and with his vision and expertise he can serve for the betterment of the students in a more efficient way.
