Rohtak MBBS Exam Scam: Varsity sacks 2 Employees Arrested for Answer Sheet Tampering

Haryana- Two employees of Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR) in Rohtak have been dismissed after being found involved in the ongoing MBBS exam scam.
The employees, identified as Roshan Lal, a computer operator, and Rohit, an assistant, were accused of tampering with answer sheets during the annual and supplementary MBBS examinations, allowing students to re-write their answers.
UHSR Vice Chancellor Professor HK Agarwal confirmed the dismissal of the two employees, who were arrested after confessing to their role in the malpractice. This follows an FIR filed in February, which named 24 MBBS students and 17 UHSR staff members. The investigation is ongoing, with reports indicating that students from multiple colleges across the state may have been involved, aided by UHSR staff.

“The police investigation is ongoing, with students from two private colleges across the state implicated so far. The university’s internal inquiry also uncovered discrepancies between marks on answer sheets and those recorded in award lists, suggesting possible tampering,” sources revealed to Tribune
The dismissal orders, issued by the Vice Chancellor on Monday, cited the employees’ confessions during police interrogation as grounds for termination, stating they were “unfit to remain in service”.
According to the order as reported by Tribune, Roshan Lal admitted to altering, replacing and manipulating answer sheets, as well as re-stitching them before resubmission. Additionally, Rs 6 lakh was recovered from his residence. Despite being bound by standard operating procedures, he exploited his position to commit fraud — conduct deemed “completely unbecoming of a university employee”. Similar allegations were outlined in Rohit’s dismissal order.
The orders further noted that since both accused are currently jailed, there is apprehension that they or their associates may intimidate, threaten or coerce witnesses slated to testify against them, potentially obstructing justice, adds Tribune
In February, the Haryana Police had filed an FIR against a total of 41 accused, including 24 MBBS students and 17 UHSR staff members, in the case. Dismissed employees Roshan Lal and Rohit have also confessed to tampering with the answer sheets and are among those named in the FIR and were later arrested.
Meanwhile, in this regard, Medical Dialogues has recently reported regarding the involvement of students from two private colleges across the state. However, it is different from the institute against whose 24 MBBS students an FIR was lodged on February 15 after the UHSR security officer complained of irregularities in the exam. This is the first time a student from another private college has come under the scanner in the scam. However, a written complaint submitted to the UHSR in January indicates that students from several colleges may be involved, helped by UHSR staff.
