Rs 1000 per month for delay in Registration Renewal, Exorbitant cost pinches Haryana Doctors
Palwal: Expressing concern over the exorbitant fee for registration renewal in Haryana, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has recently asked the state government to revoke the order that increased the late fee for license renewal to Rs 1000 for one month delay.
President-Elect, IMA Haryana, Dr. Anil Malik has recently submitted a memorandum and its IMA members met Cabinet Minister, Haryana Govt, Dr. Banwari Lal and requested him to revoke the order.
IMA Haryana & IMA Palwal has also submitted a letter to Chief Minister, Govt. of Haryana and stated, " The Latest Notification issued by Haryana Medical Council regarding Registration / Renewal / Late Charges of HMC Membership & related issues is against the welfare of Medical Fraternity of Haryana. The HMC Registration process should be simple, hassle-free, swift & with reasonable charges."
The doctors pointed out that in nearby states like Delhi the Registration charges are Rs. 2000/- only. Renewal charges every 5 years are Rs. 1000/- only. Fine / Late Fees charges are Rs. 500/- only for six months and Rs. 1000/- only after 1 year & per year. However, Latest Notification issued by Haryana Medical Council stated that every medical professional has to renew their license every 5 years. Even one month of delay in renewal will cost Rs 1000 and two months and three months delay will impose a fine of Rs 2000 and Rs 3000 respectively. If the doctors fail to renew the license even after 2 years of the stipulated time, their license will be liable to get suspended by the medical council.
" It is our humble submission to withhold this latest Notification by Haryana Medical Council with immediate effect and to do the needful Amendments at the earliest in the interest & welfare of Medical Fraternity of Haryana," IMA mentioned in the letter. The new fee structure will be applicable from 1st August. Before that, the renewal of the license will cost only Rs 100.
Dr Anil Malik, President-Elect IMA Haryana State has told Medical Dialogues, " Doctors used to get lifetime registration; however, due to some cases of quacks and fake registrations, the system of license renewal came to effect. If you consider almost 6 to 7 of our neighbouring States, all of them have kept the charges for renewal very minimum. Even the late fee was very minimum. The recent circular stated that now we have to give as much as Rs 1000 for one month's delay. Moreover, the renewal registration itself will cost Rs 5000."
" If you considered states like Rajasthan the renewal is only mandatory every 10 years and it will cost only Rs 1000 and the late fee is only Rs 100. Uttrakhand Medical Council has also kept the renewal of registration cost to RS 500. Punjab Medical Council decided that the registration renewal amount should remain at Rs 2100 and Delhi Medical Council set the fee at Rs 1000 and the late fee will charge only Rs 500 more. Even after our constant request, the government has deterred the last date of submission to mid-August from 31st July but it is yet to revoke the order," he added.
