Rs 2.39 crore medical equipment to strengthen healthcare in Haryana
Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has approved the procurement of critical medical equipment worth Rs 2.39 crore to enhance patient care and strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the state. The procurement includes 25 slit lamps, 140 radiant warmers, 60 LED phototherapy units and 1,575 plastic moulded pallets.
The equipment will be supplied to civil hospitals, neonatal care units, ensuring improved diagnostic, treatment and storage facilities in government health institutions.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Special Standing Purchase Committee (Higher), chaired by Dr Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department. The procurement will be carried out under a two-year rate contract that also includes maintenance support to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the equipment.

According to Dr. Misra, 25 slit lamps valued at about Rs. 74 lakh will be installed in ophthalmology departments of civil hospitals to strengthen eye diagnostic services, enabling early detection and treatment of vision-related disorders.
For neonatal care, 140 radiant warmers costing around Rs. 82 lakh will help maintain optimal body temperature for newborns immediately after birth, reducing the risk of complications. Additionally, 60 LED phototherapy units worth Rs. 32 lakh will be used for the treatment of neonatal jaundice, a common but potentially serious condition among newborns.
To improve logistics and storage efficiency, 1,575 plastic moulded pallets valued at Rs. 51 lakh will be supplied to HMSCL warehouses. These pallets will enhance inventory management and ensure safe storage of medicines and medical supplies.
Dr. Misra stated that this initiative will significantly upgrade healthcare delivery across Haryana’s public health network, directly benefiting patients, especially newborns and those requiring specialized eye care services.
