Monthly Honorarium increased for Tutors, SRs, JRs, MBBS interns in Jharkhand
Dhanbad: Bringing good news to the tutors, senior residents, and MBBS interns of five government medical colleges, the State Government of Jharkhand has increased their monthly stipend. In this regard, the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the State Health Department Arun Kumar Singh issued a notification on Friday.
After this revision, the tutors and the first-year, second-year, and third-year senior residents will get Rs 80,000, Rs 82,000, and Rs 85,000 as their monthly stipend.
The State has also revised the stipend paid to the junior residents, academic and non-academic (PG), and Junior Residents MBBS (non-academic) belonging to the Government medical colleges including Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad, Phulo Jhanho Medical College (PJMCH) Dumka, Mednirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital, Hazaribagh.
Currently, a junior resident (academic postgraduate) gets Rs 41,000 as their monthly stipend. Now, the State has revised the amount of the monthly honorarium. With this, the first-year, second-year, and third-year Academic PG Junior Residents will get Rs 54,000, Rs 58,000 and Rs 63,000 respectively.

While the junior residents belonging to SNMMCH Dhanbad, PJMCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh and MMCH Palamu get Rs 41,000 as their monthly stipend, the State has now revised the amount to Rs 54,000 per month. Similarly, the junior resident (MBBS non- academic) would also get Rs 54,000 per month.
Referring to this, the notification issued by ACS Health mentioned, “These revised honorarium would be paid to junior residents academic and non-academic who give an undertaking of not doing private practice.”
As per the latest media report by Lagatar 24, ACS Singh has admitted that the junior residents belonging to the five government medical colleges in the State get comparatively lesser amount of stipend than their counterpart at Rajendra Institite of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi.
Raising the issue, the students had submitted application to the government authorities seeking a revision of their monthly stipend amount. Fulfilling their demand, the State Health Department has increased the monthly stipend of SRs, Tutors, JRs in the State.
Further, the State Health Department has also increased the monthly stipend of the MBBS Interns belonging to the medical college hospitals. The stipend for MBBS Interns has been revised from Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,000 per month.
