Renowned Neurologist Dr Sunil Malik takes charge as President, AIIMS Bhopal
Bhopal: Renowned Neurologist Dr Sunil Malik took over as president of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal on Saturday. Dr Malik has served as a senior consultant in the Department of Neurology in Bhopal for twenty years.
Previously Dr Y K Gupta served as the president, whose term ended on June 9. Dr YK Gupta served as an academic Dean at AIIMS Delhi.
Dr Sunil Malik is a super-specialist in neurology. He completed his graduation (MBBS) from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, in 1992. He pursued Postgraduation (MD) in Medicine from GR Medical College, Gwalior, and he completed Superspecialisation (DM) in Neurology from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

He has been a senior consultant in Neurology at Bhopal for over two decades. He has been serving patients from the entire state of Madhya Pradesh and the neighbouring states. He brings with him a wealth of experience concerning healthcare issues of the entire region and a deep understanding of the aspirations and expectations of patients of the state and of adjoining states.
AIIMS Bhopal director Dr Ajai Singh and other faculty members congratulated DR Malik and welcomed the newly appointed institute president, reports Times of India.
AIIMS Bhopal achieved some milestones over the last decades, for instance, a Consolation prize of Rs.50 lakhs was awarded to AIIMS, Bhopal, for the years 2018 and 2019 by the Hon'ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare for the second consecutive time as part of its rejuvenation. A new OPD counter has been started in October 2019, considering the heavy demand of senior citizens and employees of this institute. State-of-the-art cancer care radiotherapy department for cancer care started in November 2019. It is the only centre of its kind in the government sector.
Sanchari Chattopadhyay has pursued her M.A in English and Culture Studies from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. She likes observing cultural specificities and exploring new places.
