Grant Medical College MBBS student murder case- 2 accused granted bail

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has recently granted bail to 2 accused in a murder case of an MBBS student from the year 2021. The student was reportedly pursuing an MBBS from Grant Medical College, J J Hospital.
According to UNI report, the High court bench on Thursday granted bail to the two accused men, Mithu Singh and co-accused Abdul Jabbar Ansari, booked for the alleged murder of MBBS student Sadiccha Sane in November 2021.
While granting bail to the accused Mithu Singh, a lifeguard, the high court noted that the case is purely based on circumstantial evidence. The bench further questioned the prosecution about the proof that the woman died, while there is still a possibility that she is still missing.
The 18-month delay in the arrest of Singh was also questioned by the judges.

Sane, who was pursuing an MBBS from Grant Medical College, J J Hospital, left her house to appear for her third-year exam on November 29, 2021. However, the family has not heard from her since. The police claimed that she went to Bandra Bandstand, where she met Singh and stayed with him for a long time.
It is suspected that Singh tried to get intimate with her against her will and could have killed her during a scuffle.
Singh’s lawyer, Harshman Chavan, had sought bail for him, arguing that he is falsely implicated in the case. It was contended that Sane’s body has still not been found, and there is no evidence of Singh’s connection with her disappearance, adds UNI.
Mithu Singh, who worked as a lifeguard, was arrested on January 13, 2023 on the charges including murder, after Sane disappeared on November 29, 2021, but was alleged to have been last seen with him. Her body was not found.
Singh had filed for bail stating that there was no evidence to link him to Sane’s disappearance. He claimed that there was no motive shown or any witnesses cited to show that he had committed the murder. It was also submitted that a day after her appearance, the police had detained Singh and subjected him to assault to get him to confess to the crime. He had denied any involvement.
