Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma becomes new Director of RIMS, Imphal
Imphal: Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma has been appointed as the new Director of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal for a period of five years or up to the age of superannuation whichever is earlier.
The order has been issued by the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, Dr Pulkesh Kumar. Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has been serving as the Director-Professor (Forensic Medicine and Toxicology) at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi since May 15, 2020.
The order stated that the appointment of Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma to the post of Director, RIMS, Imphal on deputation on foreign service {including short-term contract) basis will be regulated by the instructions issued by the Government of India from time to time. Previously, H. Priyosakhi Devi served as the Director of RIMS, Imphal. He has more than 21 years of post-PG teaching experience.

" In pursuance of approval of Appointment Committee of Cabinet conveyed vide DoPT order dated 01.05.2023, the undersigned is directed to convey the approval of competent authority for the appointment of Dr Guruaribam Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director Professor (Forensic Medicine & Toxicology), Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi to the post of Director, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in the scale of pay of Rs. 67,000-79,000 (restricted to a maximum of Rs.85000/- including NPA) (pre-revised), on deputation on foreign service (including short-term contract) basis for a period of 06 years with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or upto the age of superannuation in his parent cadre, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest," the order reads.
Prior to joining VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital as a Specialist on October 3, 2006, he also served at AIIMS, New Delhi, as a Junior Resident, Senior Resident, and Senior Research Associate (Pool Officer) from 1998 to 2006. Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has also contributed as an expert to numerous NBE and MCI/NMC-related projects. He completed his MBBS from RIMS in 1994 and his MD from AIIMS, New Delhi, in 2001. A CSIS project on the prevalence of alcohol use in cases of fatal and not-so-fatal accidents in South Delhi. Additionally, Dr Sunil Kumar Sharma has 34 papers published, reports E-Pao.
