Dr Deepak Chawla elected as president of IMA Jalandhar for the year 2024
Jalandhar: In a significant development, Dr Deepak Chawla has assumed the prestigious position of the President of the Jalandhar branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) for the year 2024. This branch holds the distinction of being the largest in the country, boasting over 1,400 members.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr Chawla extended heartfelt thanks to the entire medical community in Jalandhar for placing their trust in him for this responsibility. The formal transition of the IMA president's charge took place during an installation ceremony held recently, where outgoing office-bearers passed on the mantle to Dr Chawla.
Dr Chawla outlined his vision for the upcoming term, emphasizing his commitment to enhancing association and collaboration among medical professionals across the city. Additionally, he pledged to advocate for and actively contribute to the improvement of healthcare quality for the local people, reports the Daily.
Dr Chawla, a distinguished Laparoscopic, Bariatric, and Gynae Cancer Surgeon associated with Chawla Nursing Home & Maternity Hospital, brings an impressive profile to his new position. With an MBBS from J.S.S Medical College, Mysore, and an MS in General Surgery from J N M C, Belgaum, he has pursued various international training programs, including a diploma course in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Anatomy & Virtual Reality in Germany.
He is an FMAS and FAIS and has participated in various free camps as part of village programmes held by the National Association of Reproductive & Child Health of India (NARCHI). He has been an active team worker in organizing conferences by NARCHI & Obstetrician & Gynaecological Society of India (Northern Chapter).
His commitment to continuous learning is evident through certifications in laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopy, and advanced courses in various aspects of surgery. He has been a member of several doctors' association. The other members who have been assigned important roles in IMA Ludhiana are Dr Gagandeep Singh, senior vice-president; Dr Archana Dutta, secretary; Dr Jangpreet Singh Multani, assistant secretary; Dr Abhishek Kumar, finance secretary; Dr Amit Mahajan, assistant finance secretary; Dr Vikas Sood, press secretary; and Dr Peeyush Sharma, assistant press secretary, reports The Tribune.
