Eminent Ophthalmologist Dr Balbir Singh appointed as Punjab Health Minister, IMA lauds appointment
Chandigarh: The renowned ophthalmologist and Patiala rural MLA Dr Balbir Singh has recently been appointed as the Health Minister in the Punjab cabinet by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Dr Paramjit Maan, the president of the Punjab chapter of the Indian Medical Association, has welcomed the induction of Dr Balbir Singh. Congratulating Dr Balbir, Dr Paramjit Maan stated, " As a medical professional himself, Dr Balbir Singh could establish a good relationship with the medical fraternity as the Health Minister, and thus, resolve the long-pending issues for ensuring a better execution of policies to bring in qualitative improvement in the healthcare sector."
Talking to Medical Dialogues, Dr Mann further added, " Dr Balbir’s experience and integrity should be considered as an asset to the cabinet, and it would prove to be an advantage for the promotion of healthcare services, medical research and science. He is a very honest and humble fellow as a man."
Chief Minister himself welcomed the addition of Dr Mann to the cabinet and tweeted, " Many congratulations to Dr Balbir for his new responsibility in the Punjab Cabinet...His services and experience as a doctor will surely prove beneficial for the health of Punjabis...I am sure the health sector of Punjab will reach new heights under his leadership... Best wishes for a new beginning."
While accepting his new position Dr Mann stated, " I was only one of a billion helpless Indian voters, who always got cheated. ZERO chance of me entering politics. Then Arvind Kejriwal gave me a new vision, a greater cause! Mr. Bhagwant Mann gave me a chance to make a difference. They made me an MLA & minister. I m deeply thankful! I will work day and night to live up to your expectations."
Expressing his gratitude towards CM Mann, he further added, " Our honourable CM Bhagwant Mann is a source of energy for all Punjabis. His leadership is all about instilling a sense of belief that we too can make a difference. He is an awesome captain of the team who leads by example & holds us steady when we face challenges.
