Rajasthan: A Gynaecologist attached to Sagwara Government Hospital in Dungarpur was allegedly abused and slapped by a Bhartiya tribal party MLA. A video went viral where the MLA was seen accusing the doctor of demanding a bribe from a patient for the delivery of a baby.

Though the doctor denied such allegations, the tension between the duo grew up after which the legislator allegedly slapped and manhandled the doctor. The MLA had claimed that he was only there to confront the doctor about demanding a bribe and he never slapped him.

The act of the MLA was criticized by the doctors of the institute and they also boycotted work for a few hours protesting against the violent act of the MLA. CI Ajay Singh Rao immediately rushed to the hospital and after meeting the protesting doctors, police registered a complaint against the MLA.
He told TOI, " we have registered the case against the MLA under section 332 353 404 406 186 of the IPC and provisions for the protection of healthcare personnel from violence, hurting, intimidation in the discharge of duty within the premises of health care facility." However, the minister has denied the allegations and stated that he never slapped the doctor.
As per a recent media report by Times of India, the minister claimed that he received a complaint that the gynecologist demanded a bribe to perform the delivery of a baby at the hospital. In order to confront the doctor, the MLA paid a visit to the hospital and meet the doctor. When he confronted the doctor a spat broke out between them as the doctor vehemently denied such allegations. According to the daily, following the conflict, in a spur of the moment, the MLA slapped the doctor.
The MLA told TOI, " I have been getting frequent complaints of doctors demanding money from poor people in lieu of treatment at the hospital. When a disabled man complained that a doctor had demanded rupees 5000 for a delivery case, I went to the hospital to know the truth and only spoke for the public good and there was no intention of disrespecting the doctor. I told him to behave well and I did not slap him."
The legislator claimed that he only tried to have a conversation with the doctor and advised him to think of the public good and behave well with the patients. He stated that there was no such incident of violence against the doctor. On the other hand, the doctor stated that he was trying to explain to him that he had not taken any money and that the patient had alleged that a nurse had asked for money. But the MLA did not pay any attention to his answers and slapped him.
As per a report by Fresspress journal, in the video, the MLA was seen confronting the doctor and he also asked a man from the crowd behind him about who claimed the money and he stated that it was a ' madam' but the minister told the doctor "You are lying. You should be ashamed of yourself" after which the sound of a slap can be heard.
The doctors of the institute stopped their work and protested against the act of violence of the MLA but the BTP leaders, on the other hand, have demanded action against the doctor for misbehavior with the MLA.
