MBBS student absconding for 8 months arrested for appearing as dummy candidate in 2022 RPSC exam
Jaipur: An MBBS student from Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Medical College in Bhilwara who had been absconding since last year was recently arrested for his alleged role in impersonating a candidate in the Rajasthan Public Service Commission's (RPSC) senior teacher recruitment exam in 2022.
The student from Jalore district reportedly acted as a proxy for the original candidate, in the science subject exam conducted on December 24, 2022. The exam, held at a government senior secondary school in Jodhpur, was later cancelled due to a paper leak scandal.
The accused student reportedly struck a deal with the original candidate of Rs 5 lakh to write the exam on his behalf. Therefore, the original candidate did not appear for the exam and in his place, the accused student carrying his roll number gave the exam.

When the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan initiated an investigation into the cheating scandal, the accused student went into hiding in May 2024 and was on the run for 8 months. A bounty of Rs 5,000 was imposed on him for any information regarding his capture, as reported by TOI.
Currently, in police custody, the accused student is being interrogated about any other possible fraud case where he may have appeared as a dummy candidate again to give exams.
This recent arrest follows months of investigation by the police after the case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022. An investigation is under process to unveil other accused involved in the case.
As per the daily, the senior teacher recruitment exam was cancelled in Dec 2022 after Udaipur police busted a racket involving a cheating mafia that distributed the leaked question paper before the exam and handed it over to students inside a bus. It was also discovered that several candidates hired dummy candidates to appear on their behalf. Police compiled a list of absconders in the paper leak and cheating case.
