Chennai: The opposition AIADMK expressed disappointment over Tamil Nadu Governor's customary address to the newly-constituted 16th Legislative Assembly and said it did not contain any promises made by the DMK during the Assembly elections.

"During elections, the DMK had promised that NEET will be scrapped if it was elected to power. But the Governor's address only mentioned about the constitution of a panel to go into the adverse impact of NEET on socially and educationally backward students", he said.
Referring to Health Minister Ma Subramanian's recent remarks that students should be prepared for NEET exams, he said this showed that the DMK spoke ond thing while it was in opposition and speaking differently on NEET issue after coming to power.
Mr Palaniswami said the DMK made 505 promises in its poll manifesto, but some of the important promsies also did not find a mention in the Governor address.
AIADMK Coordinator and Deputy Leader of the Opposition O Paneerselvam also expressed disppointment over the Governor's address.
AIADMK's ally, the PMK, while welcoming separate budget for agriculture, expressed disappointment on the lack of clarity in the Governor's address on how NEET would be abolished.
In a statement here, PMK Founder Dr S Ramadoss however welcomeed the setting up an economic advisory committee comprising experts like Raghuram Rajan, and publishing of a white paper on Tamil Nadu's financial matters.
