Woman arrested for allegedly submitting fake MBBS, PG medical certificates to Tamil Nadu Medical Council
Chennai: In a case of alleged fake medical degree fraud, a woman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly preparing and submitting fake medical degree certificates to the Tamil Nadu Medical Council for registration
The 40-year-old woman, a native of Telangana was nabbed after she tried to register herself as a doctor under the Tamil Nadu Medical Council by producing fake medical degree certificates.
The fraud came to light when she visited the office of the Tamil Nadu Medical Council and presented her fake undergraduate and postgraduate medical degree certificates which claimed that she had studied medicine and hence wanted to register herself with the council.

However, the fraudulent activity of the woman was caught by the registrar while checking the authenticity of the medical documents. The registrar found that she did not study medicine and the documents were fake, reports DT Next .
Following this, the registrar informed the Registrar Kamaraj Police Control Room and Arumbakkam Police rushed to the spot and confiscated the documents. While interrogating the accused, she confessed to the crime and was arrested in this regard.
An FIR was registered against the woman under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and an investigation is underway. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody based on the court's order.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the matter to track the person who prepared the fake certificates.
