AIISH Satellite Centre in Kanpur to be ready by October 2026

Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh is set to achieve national recognition in the field of speech and hearing disorders with the establishment of an All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) Satellite Centre in Kanpur.
Construction work for this institute is currently underway in the Surar region and is targeted for completion by October 31, 2026.
According to the ET media news report, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh recently inspected the construction site and reviewed the pace and quality of the work.
He instructed officials to ensure that the work is completed on time without compromising on standards, and emphasized the regular monitoring of the project.
The project is being implemented by NPCC Limited under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with technical quality supervision being provided by IIT (BHU) Varanasi.
The institute is being developed as an extension of the prestigious All India Institute of Speech and Hearing. It will span an area of approximately 81,000 square meters and is being constructed at a cost of ₹180 crore.
Upon its completion, this institute will become the second of its kind in India and the first in North India. It will also help reduce dependence on the facility located in Mysore.
This centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure modelled after the Mysore institute, comprising advanced audiology laboratories, speech therapy units, hearing assessment facilities, and specialised training and research resources.
This campus will feature separate hostel facilities for 102 boys and 102 girls, catering to students arriving from across India. Construction work on the Medical Block and the Pre-Primary Block is also progressing rapidly.
The Pre-Primary Unit will focus on the early identification and resolution of speech and hearing-related difficulties in young children.
This institute will play a significant role not only in providing advanced healthcare services but also in promoting specialized education and research in the field of speech and hearing sciences.
