Deputy CM orders probe against Aligarh's CHC, Dufferin Hospital after family alleges medical negligence
Aligarh: Taking action against a complaint of medical negligence, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has ordered a probe against doctors at Aligarh’s CHC and Dufferin Hospital. This came after a complaint alleged that the doctors transferred a pregnant woman without providing proper care ..
Last week, the doctors allegedly transferred a pregnant woman to a facility without primary care. Pathak instructed CMO Dr Manoj Agarwal to find out the doctors connected to the incident and initiate a proper investigation against them. He also instructed that the salary of the doctors' should be withheld if found guilty. The family of the patient reached Pathak via social media and informed him about the incident.
The patient was brought to the Aligarh Nehru Children Park CHC. The patient's family had to make numerous requests before the gate was eventually unlocked. Due to the patient's serious condition, doctors referred her to Dufferin Hospital, where she was then sent to another hospital. She eventually gave birth to a child in a private hospital. However, the patient's party claimed that the doctors did not provide any primary care to the woman before transferring her, reports TOI.
Last year a similar incident took place in Mumbai where the family members of a 35-year-old woman alleged negligence against Khan Bahadur Bhabha Hospital in Kurla after the woman and her unborn child died in the hospital. The family alleged that the hospital initially refused to admit her and then delayed her treatment, which resulted in their death. The woman along with her 41-year-old husband went to Bhabha Hospital early in the morning after she began getting labor pains. She was eventually taken to the labor room but passed away within two hours of reaching the hospital.
Her husband claimed that the hospital was initially hesitant to admit his wife. Around 7 am the hospital admitted her to the maternity ward after several requests. They, however, were reluctant to attend and treat her. He stated that three times his wife came out of the ward and told him that she was in unbearable pain but the hospital staff did nothing.
