Interstate MBBS admission scam: 6th accused arrested in fake freedom fighter certificate racket

Allegedly Secretly Recording Women in Washroom
Jhansi: Another alleged member of an interstate racket has been arrested for helping students secure MBBS admissions using forged freedom-fighter certificates. With the latest arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to six.
The accused, a resident of Anand Vihar, Paharia in Varanasi, was arrested on Friday from his residence by a joint team of the SWAT unit and Gyanpur Police.
The case came to light after the Director General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, sought police verification on August 27, 2025, of the certificates submitted by nine students from Bhadohi. The students had obtained admission to the MBBS course under the Freedom Fighter Quota during the 2012-13 academic session.

During verification, the police found that all nine certificates submitted by the students were forged. Following a complaint filed by a clerk at the Medical Education headquarters, an FIR was registered against all nine students on September 20, 2025, and an investigation was launched.
The investigation identified the alleged kingpin of the racket, a resident of Jigna in Mirzapur, who allegedly took money to facilitate MBBS admissions using fake certificates. He was arrested on November 24.
When the police interrogated him, the accused revealed the name of another member of the racket who was a resident of Jasa, Vindhyachal. Subsequently, he was also arrested. Following this, the involvement of the recently arrested accused came to light.
To nab him, a joint team of the SWAT unit and Gyanpur Police tracked the accused and arrested him on Friday, reports Amarujala.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shubham Agrawal said that six accused have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Bihar police busted an alleged solver gang that attempted to enter some NEET UG 2026 re-examination centres, leading to the arrest of 30 people, including MBBS students, biometric staff and other alleged accomplices. The arrests were made in Bihar's Lakhisarai district after authorities received information that dummy candidates were appearing in the examination instead of genuine aspirants by using forged Aadhaar cards as ID cards during verification.
Among those arrested are nine alleged impersonators or "solvers." Police said these individuals were students from medical, nursing, dental and ayurvedic colleges located in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Delhi and Rajasthan. The arrested persons also include an original NEET candidate from Nalanda and two MBBS students allegedly linked to the network. They have been reportedly identified as a fourth-year MBBS student at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), Gaya, and a fourth-year MBBS student at Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (BMIMS), Nalanda.
Apart from the medical students, the Bihar police arrested 18 biometric staff members, including three supervisors and 15 operators from Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Nawada districts. One of the arrested biometric staff members is also a fourth-year MBBS student at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
