Dr Bhanu Duggal appointed VC of HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University

Dehradun: Dr. Bhanu Duggal has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUME) in Dehradun. Currently serving as Professor and Head of Department of Cardiology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, Dr. Duggal brings extensive experience in academics, clinical practice, and medical administration.
The Governor and Chancellor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) has issued her appointment, which stated Dr. Duggal has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor for a term of five years from the date of assuming charge, or until attaining the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier, subject to the pleasure of the Chancellor.
Earlier in her career, Dr Duggal held the position of Professor and Head of Department of Cardiology at Grant Medical College and the Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, and has also worked with the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in New Delhi. An internationally recognised cardiologist, she is known for her research on the clinical use of stents in India and has received several honours, including the Diversity Travel Support Award in April 2013. She also acted as the Head of the HTA Resource Centre for Uttarakhand at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Dr Duggal completed her MBBS and MD in Medicine from AIIMS, New Delhi, and earned her DM in Cardiology from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. She has secured an ICMR International Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in the United States and the DBT Early Career Clinical Fellowship under the Indo-UK programme.
Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University is a medical education state university located at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It was established in 2014 by the Government of Uttarakhand through the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Medical Education University Act, 2014.
Sanchari Chattopadhyay has pursued her M.A in English and Culture Studies from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. She likes observing cultural specificities and exploring new places.
