Junior doctor of WB Medical College falls to death
Burdwan: In an unfortunate incident, a junior doctor attached to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital passed away reportedly after falling from a great height on Wednesday late at night. The medico was spotted lying in a pool of blood on the ground behind the hostel by his colleagues.
While the police has launched an investigation into the case, the family of the doctor insisted that there might be foul play involved and refused to accept it as a suicide case or accidental death.
The medico has been identified as a 23-year-old who was serving as the junior doctor in the institute. He was a resident of Nadanghat in East Burdwan and his father is a small-scale trader.
As per a recent media report by the Telegraph, some of the medicos heard a loud thud around 2.30 am on Wednesday. When they went outside behind the hostel on the campus to check, they spotted the junior doctor lying in a pool of blood and noticed that he had serious head injuries, reports The Telegraph. They rushed the doctor to the hospital but unfortunately, he can not be saved.
"We tried our best to save the junior doctor, but unfortunately he died. Now, it is the job of the police to look into the incident," said Suhrita Paul, the principal of Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Soon police were informed and they registered a case of unnatural death.
A senior police officer in Burdwan said, " We will probe all aspects to find out whether there was any foul play. We can tentatively say the death was the result of falling down from a great height."
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased mentioned a large cut mark behind the doctor's head which made them suspicious of foul play being involved in the death.
The maternal uncle of the junior doctor alleged while speaking to the daily, "We were informed that he was in a serious condition and found him dead on the hospital bed when we arrived. Many of his friends claimed that he might have jumped from the hostel to commit suicide. But we don't think he was in a state to commit suicide. We suspect it to be a murder case and we will soon lodge a complaint with police."
