Rampurhat medical college 1st year MBBS student dies after falling from moving train in Bengal

Birbhum: In an unfortunate incident, an MBBS student from Haryana died after allegedly falling from a moving train in West Bengal's Birbhum district while travelling with six of his classmates.

The incident prompted the Government Railway Police (GRP) to launch an investigation.

The deceased, identified as a first-year MBBS student at Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital, was travelling to Burdwan with his batchmates on board the Ma Tara Express on Sunday evening to watch a movie. According to preliminary information, he fell from the moving train between Sainthia and Gadadharpur railway stations under circumstances that are being investigated.

According to a recent UNI report, a first-year MBBS student from Haryana lost his life after reportedly falling from a moving train near Sainthia in West Bengal's Birbhum district while travelling with fellow students.

The Sainthia GRP immediately recovered him and first sent him to Sainthia State General Hospital, but later shifted him to Burdwan Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

But he succumbed to his injuries at the Burdwan Medical College Hospital at wee hours on Monday. Sainthia GRP has informed his parents over the phone in Haryana, who had reached yesterday, after which the post-mortem was conducted at Rampurhat Medical College Hospital in his presence.

The family from Haryana is shocked by the sudden tragedy. Sainthia GRP has started an unnatural death case and is waiting for the post-mortem report. GRP officials have also grilled his six friends about the accident.

His father, welling up, said that he wanted to be a doctor since his childhood and took admission last year in Rampurhat Medical College.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a 27-year-old postgraduate medical student died while undergoing treatment after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway near Chakan.
