VIRAL Video: Doctor beating up patient in Rajasthan
As stated by the hospital administration, the said video seems to be edited as the assault started from the patient's side when he manhandled a female doctor.
Jaipur: Controversy has erupted after a video allegedly showing a doctor beating up a patient admitted at the state-run Sawai Man Singh Medical College and Hospital (SMS Hospital) had gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred on June 1 but the matter came to light after the video started to trend online. As stated by the hospital administration, the said video seems to be edited as the assault was allegedly started from the patient's side when he manhandled a female doctor.
The hospital authorities informed PTI that the patient was admitted at their facility on June 1 for a type of poisoning with gastritis, when he turned violent with the doctors. The patient first manhandled a female doctor and when a male doctor and the patient's family tried to calm him down, he started to physically fight with the rest, hospital authorities further stated.
"The video circulated on social media seems to be edited. A disciplinary committee will investigate the matter and a report will be submitted to the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission as well. The patient is now fit to be discharged," SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr D S Meena told PTI.
