65 year old Delhi Doctor stabbed and looted at his residence
New Delhi: A 65-year old Delhi doctor, identified as Dr Batra, recently became an unfortunate victim of assault after four unidentified perpetrators entered his residence at northwest Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area and robbed him of cash and valuables finding the senior citizen alone in the house.
The victim, Dr Batra has gone out at night with his family to see Ramleela in the nearby places. Dr Batra reached his residence early before his other family members, after which the incident of robbery happened.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Commissioner of Police(northwest), Aslam Khan informed that the incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when the four men barged into Batra's house and fled away with cash and other valuable items after thrashing him.
The victim's son called police after he along with his mother returned home and saw his father lying on the bed with his hands tied, Khan added.
The doctor's son informed TOI that when the family reached home, they found Dr Batra in the pool of blood and thrashed when the doctor showed resistance towards their actions. The assaulters took away cash and valuables worth 5 lakh and by the time they were moving towards the other cupboard, they sensed that family reached home and so they fled away with whatever they could lay their hands on.
The police was immediately informed about the incident, "The police control room received a call around 12.30 a.m. When the police reached the spot, the house was found ransacked. Dr. Batra was taken to nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have said that he is out of danger," the police official informed The Hindu.
A police case was registered by the family and the assaulters are not yet caught. "Teams have been formed to identify and nab the accused. CCTV footage of the area is being obtained," the officer added.
