AIIMS Resident Doctor booked for abetting Anaesthetist wife's suicide
GURUGRAM: A Senior resident doctor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences trauma centre (AIIMS) has been booked along with his parents for allegedly abetting his doctor wife to commit suicide. The action has been taken based on the complaint filed by the deceased doctor's father who has accused his daughter's in-laws and husband of dowry harassment.
The 29-year-old doctor, identified to be an Anaesthetist at Fortis Hospital Gurugram, was found dead due to an overdose of anaesthetics at her residence in the city.
According to the police, the doctor's body was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood in her flat with some tablets were strewn across the bed. The forensic department has stated that several pills and injection phials were scattered near the body and it seemed that she took multiple dosages of anaesthetic.
The anaesthetist was working in Gurugram's Fortis hospital until a month ago, while her husband was working at the AIIMS trauma centre Delhi. Earlier, she was also posted as Senior Resident Doctor at AIIMS.
Alleging dowry harassment, her father filed an FIR with the police. He alleged that the medico is a drug addict and was forcing his daughter to start consuming drugs adding that the accused would often beat and torture his daughter which led her to take the extreme step

The recent media reports suggest that the doctor couple got married last year. The father alleged that shortly after the wedding, they discovered that the man was a drug addict and would also force their daughter to take marijuana along with him
Informing Police about the same, the father said, "We came to know about this when she was admitted for treatment at AIIMS Hospital in April 2019." He added that her in-laws and husband used to beat her brutally over petty issues. One time her leg was broken in the incident.
"Her leg was also fractured in an accident since then her husband other family members boycotted her and neither did they cooperate financially. In September 2019 the husband left the house and started living in the AIIMS hostel," the deceased father told the police, states Pioneer.
In September this year, she quit her job at the AIIMS trauma centre and joined Fortis, from there as well, the medico had quit 2 weeks ago. On November 19th, the father made several calls to her which went unanswered. He then called the watchman, who informed the house owner. When cops broke into the house, the medico was found dead lying on the floor. Syringes and medicines were lying on the bed, adds Tribune
“I received a call from cops and the landlord saying she had been found dead. I asked the husband to go there as I couldn’t reach Gurugram before afternoon, but he refused. My Daughter was forced to commit suicide due to him and her in-laws,” the father alleged.
Based on the FIR filed by the father, an FIR was registered under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (common intention) at Sushant Lok police station against the AIIMS doctor and his family members.
