Ayurveda practitioner booked for allegedly sexually harassing patient

Pune: An Ayurveda practitioner was recently booked for allegedly sexually harassing a patient inside his naturopathy treatment centre at Alandi under the pretext of treatment by touching her inappropriately.

The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Saturday registered a case against the doctor based on a complaint filed by the woman.

The 41 year old doctor was booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 306 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident took place around 10 am on Saturday.

An officer from the Alandi police stated, "She said the suspect touched her improperly under the pretext of checking her for treatment. When she tried to raise an alarm, he threatened her."

The woman then eventually went home and told her family about the incident.

The officer further told TOI, "She came to the police station and lodged the complaint."
