Understanding ARB: The dilemma of choice
Hypertension one of the most common condition in today's time. Around 26% of the world population suffers from this condition. There are seven drugs in this class all approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of hypertension. Angiotensin Receptor Blocker (ARBs) represent a newer class of antihypertensive agents. There are several studies Available for ARB where certain ARBs have shown additional beneficial effects and their Blood Pressure ( BP ) lowering effects, however, no guidelines are available for which particular ARB should be preferred in case of different comorbid conditions due to lack of substantial direct comparative trials between different ARBs regarding their effects beyond blood pressure lowering.
