Delhi Budget 2015-16: Health Highlights

Kejriwal government has acknowledged the poor healthcare infrastructure in Delhi acting as a major bottleneck in the prosperity and quality of life of citizens of Delhi. Along with education, health became a major of focus of the delhi budget 2015-16.

”, said Manish Sisodia, the Delhi Finance Minister in his Delhi budget 2015-16 speech.

 

Increasing its focus on healthcare the government has allocated total expenditure of ₹ 4787 crore on Health in 2015-16. This includes Plan Budget of ₹ 3138 crore which is 45% more than the plan expenditure in 2014-15 which was at ₹ 2164 crore. Following are the health highlights of this year’s Delhi budget 2015-16.

 

  • Three new hospitals with total bed capacity of 1800 are planned at Nangloi, Siraspur and Madipur

  • It is planned to remodel and upgrade 11 existing hospitals which will add 4000 more beds in next two years

  • Government is planning to set-up 500 “ Mohalla Clinic: in all parts of Delhi in the current financial year

  • Five Centralised labs with modern facility will be set up in North, South, East, West and Central Delhi to provide diagnostic services to the patients visiting the Mohalla Clinic

  • Government is planning to setup an advance Trauma Care Centre in LN Hospital for sports injury rehabilitation with 100 trauma beds including ICU and OT facilities.

  • Online booking for free bed facility in 42 private hospitals for the economical weaker section to be made available

  • To maintain health data, record for registration and treatment at different hospitals of delhi govt. health card to be issued individually

  • Free medicine will be provided to the citizens of Delhi through charitable clinics/dispensaries.
