Extreme Fitness Kills: 33 year old Anesthetist found Dead, Autopsy suggests Steroid Overdose
Kolkata: A 33-year old Delhi-based Anesthetist and fitness enthusiast was recently discovered dead at his rented apartment in Kolkata. As per the preliminary post mortem report, the doctor went through a cardiac arrest due to overuse of steroids.on Sunday, March 31
The doctor was a Senior Resident Doctor in Anaesthesia and Critical Care at Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and Medical College in North-west Delhi. He was doing his MD specialization in Anaesthesia. He relocated to Kolkata in January this year to work as an observer-cum-trainee at Daradia Pain Clinic in Ultadanga.
According to his friends and associates, his last seen on WhatsApp was on Thursday and was active till Friday morning after which he could not be contacted. The landlord also informed that the doctor did not step out of his room since Saturday evening.
The locals sensed a foul smell coming out from the doctor's apartment on Sunday morning. They knocked on the door repeatedly, when no response came from inside, they immediately informed the cops.
The police soon reached the spot and broke open the door of the flat with help of local people and found that the body of Vashisth had been lying in the kitchen in a highly decomposed state, reports Millenium Post. Several sachets of medicines were also collected from the place.

A police officer informed TOI, "The body was heavily decomposed. It must have been lying there since Friday. We have sent the medicines for tests." His body was then taken to the Bidhannagar sub-divisional hospital for the autopsy.
A senior police official of New Town police station informed the TOI, "The autopsy suggested the presence of excessive steroids in Dr Vashisth's blood, which may have resulted in his death. However, a detailed report and a viscera test can confirm the exact cause."
According to Millenium Post, the cops are also investigating if anybody had instigated him to take the extreme step. A detailed probe has been initiated in this regard. The police officers are examining Vashisth's mobile phone to ascertain the cause behind the suspected suicide.
The doctor, amongst his friends and colleagues was known to be a fitness freak. One of his fellow colleagues told the TOI that he used to be extremely conscious regarding his physique.
"He was a hardcore gym enthusiast and seldom missed his training sessions. He had a muscular physique, but we did not know if he took steroids or any banned drugs," the doctor told the daily
