Explanation

The viral photo circulating on social media claiming that actress Rashmika Mandanna is in critical condition is fake. It is an AI-generated image.

While searching for this video Medical Dialogues Fact Check Team came across fact checks on similar posts posted by other handles like Vishvas News, India Today, News Mobile

To verify the accuracy of the viral claim, we conducted a keyword search to check if any media outlets had reported on Rashmika Mandanna’s health. However, we found no credible news reports on the matter.

Additionally, we performed a reverse image search using screenshots from the viral collage showing a person on a hospital bed. The results (which can be accessed here) confirmed that neither of the images featured Rashmika Mandanna. The wide-angle image of a person on a hospital bed is actually from 2018 and depicts Laura Avila. News reports from that year originally featured this photo, showing her receiving treatment for brain damage. She fell into a coma and later passed away after a botched plastic surgery procedure.

Further, the close-up image of Rashmika in the viral collage has been digitally altered. The original photograph features TV presenter Nicki Chapman on a hospital bed following brain surgery. A news report from 2019 had originally published this image. It was later manipulated by AI to resemble Rashmika Mandanna.

On January 11, 2025, Rashmika shared pictures on her Instagram showing her leg in a cast, revealing that she sustained the injury while working out at the gym.

It is concluded that altered and unrelated images are being circulated with the false claim that actress Rashmika Mandanna is in critical condition.

Medical Dialogues Final Take

The Medical Dialogues Fact-Check Team, after verification, found that multiple Facebook posts falsely claim actress Rashmika Mandanna is in critical condition. The image used in these posts was artificially generated using AI.

Hence, the claim is FALSE.
