Haryana Not Safe for Doctors: Nephrologist beaten mercilessly outside residence, injured
Gurugram: Just a few days after reports a gang open firing within the premises of a Haryana hospital and then making extortion calls for Rs 50 lakh to the Hospital owner stunned the medical fraternity, a doctor associated with a premier Gurgaon hospital became a victim of assault right outside his own home.
A nephrologist working at Artemis Hospital was recently thrashed and threatened by two unidentified men outside his residence at an upscale society in sector 67 recently causing him serious injuries.
The 46-year old Dr Shashidhar Shriniwas, a resident of Ansal Esencia on Golf course Road, was returning home from the clinic. The second he stepped out of his vehicle, the two accused attacked him. By the time family and neighbors ran towards them, they managed to escape.
"I parked my car and got down when the two men started beating me up with sticks. They seemed to be waiting for me. Despite my wailing and questioning them, they did not stop. They did not snatch anything and threatened to kill me if I acted brave," Dr Shriniwas told The Tribune.
The doctor received many blunt injuries after which he is being treated at Artemis Hospital. He is completely on bed rest, unable to walk. He demanded strict action against the two perpetrators.
The doctor further shared that he felt being stocked earlier, but he thought them to be snatchers or car robbers, but now when they reached around his house, he is scared for his family.
Based on his complaint lodged at Sector 65 police station, an FIR was registered against the culprits under sections 323 (causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Sector 65 police station.
The police suspected it to be an extortion attempt, the SHO, Sector 65 police station, Inspector Satbir Singh stated, "We are investigating. It could be a case of extortion. We visited the spot where they thrashed the doctor, but the CCTV there was found to be defunct. We are trying to identify the two accused and they will be arrested at the earliest," informing TOI.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the whole medical fraternity was stunned after the incident of gun firing by the few hooligans who managed to enter the premises to carry out the act of terror.
After the firing, the hooligans gave 12- digit number from which the owner was consistently receiving threats and extortion calls for money.
