Karnataka to provide free Health Insurance cover 1.20 crore people: Minister

Belagavi: The Karnataka Government will provide free Health insurance cover to more than 1.20 crore people by paying about Rs 9000 Crore Premium, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shivanand Patil said here on Thursday.


Speaking after inaugurating KLE Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital here, he said that the State or Central Government are Introducing many health schemes for the welfare of the people.
Later addressing a press conference, the Minister said that the shortage of Doctors faced in rural areas has been overcome as 450 Doctors have been posted at Primary Health Centers and Community Health Centers in the State.

Appointment of Midwife, Assistant Nurse appointments had been cleared by the Cabinet. In all 400 new ambulances too will join the service very soon. He said that construction of buildings for PHC and CHC across the State is nearing completion and they would be inaugurated next month.


The Minister clarified that the Ayush Medicine Manufacturing Unit that was proposed to be set up in Belagavi by the erstwhile earlier Congress government Headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will not be shifted to Bengaluru and it established here.
