Kerala: Senior Gynaecologist arrested for alleged sexual harassment of female patient
Thiruvananthapuram: A 54-year-old gynaecologist was recently arrested under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code for alleged sexual harassment of a 25-year old female patient under the pretext of treating her.
The incident took place on November 2 2019, inside a private clinic at Kuravankonam owned by the doctor when the patient visited him after dealing with severe neck pain. However, inside the clinic, she alleged that the medical practitioner harassed her sexually and misbehaved with her under the pretext of treating her.
A couple of days post the incident the patient filed a complaint with the police.
A case was registered under Sections 354 A (sexual harassment), 354B (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to disrobe), and 376(2) (being a public servant, takes advantage of his official position and commits rape on a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the medical practitioner was arrested on November 6 2019.
