Authorities at the Malda Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in West Bengal have identified a fake recruitment racket, leading to fake admission to the college.

The authorities came to know about the incident when they noticed fake signatures by the medical superintendent and vice principal (MSVP) and deputy superintendent on 56 appointment letters. Incidentally, these appointment letters also carry the stamp of the concerned officials.

As an immediate action for the cause, a written complaint as been filed by the authorities at the police station to investigate the matter further.

In his statement to the press, the State food processing and horticulture minister and chairman of district patients' welfare committee Krishnendu Choudhury has implied to have said that he is deeply anguish over the matter. He reiterated the fact strongly that the state recruitment policy is very transparent, and anybody conspiring to defame the education institution will be dealt with severe punishment. He confirmed that police will be immediately investigating the matter to promptly deal with this unwarranted situation. "

This two-page appointment letter with 56 names had the alleged false signatures of the MSVP Dr MA Rashisd and deputy superintendent Dr Jyotish Chsandra Das to recommend appointment for grade-4 employees in Malda Medical College and Hospital.

MSVP Dr MA Rashid claimed that his signature was forged. "It was neither my signature nor the original official seal used by me. I anticipate that the racket has been working to cheat unemployed youths against a large amount," Dr Rashid said. "Me or the deputy superintendent has no authority to recruit anyone in MMCH. I have lodged a written complaint with English Bazaar police station after the matter came to our notice," the MSVP added, as confirmed by a website.

Principal of Malda Medical College Dr PK Kundu said, "We are highly concerned after activities of such a gigantic fake recruitment racket have been detected. We are not taking it easily. We are sure that the signatures of the key officials of the institution like MSVP and the deputy superintendent have been faked. We believe that a thorough probe by police would bust the racket."

SP Prasun Banerjee said, "Police received a written complaint from MMCH authorities about a fake recruitment racket. A probe has already been started."
