Pregnancy complications are serious concern as its dangerous for both mother and the child. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is characterized as new onset of impaired glucose tolerance during pregnancy, which is closely associated with perinatal implications in both the mother and fetus says study published in Clinical Nutrition ESPEN.

An observational study was conducted in China determined the potential association between mid-pregnancy consumption of fruit, vegetable and fruit juice and the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).  Findings of the study indicate that appropriate quantity of fruit and vegetable intakes throughout pregnancy may have a beneficial effect on preventing the development of GDM, whereas excess consumption of fruits, potatoes and fruit juices is associated with an increased risk of GDM
