SC assures 'mechanism' for grievances redressal of overcharging by hospitals, doctors
The Supreme Court on Friday said that it will devise a mechanism for redressal of grievances concerning overcharging of expenses by hospitals and doctors from Covid-19 patients during the second wave of the pandemic.
A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and BV Nagarathna while issuing notice to the Centre said, "We will devise a mechanism to deal with such grievances".

The Income Tax Department detected "unaccounted" income of Rs 550 crore and seized over Rs 142 crore cash after it recently raided Hyderabad-based Hetero pharmaceutical group, official sources claimed on Saturday.

Acknowledging the services of resident doctors amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra Government has recently issued a resolution announcing to give Rs 1.21 lakh to each of the resident doctors working in government, civic as well as government Ayurveda colleges.
However, the government resolution has excluded the graduating batch of residents from this reward. Despite working in the COVID wards for more than one year, the doctors after being excluded from this, are feeling short-changed, adds TOI.

The Ministry of AYUSH has recently directed Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani (ASU) drug manufacturers to refrain from use of Aswagandha (Withania somnifera) leaves, holding that no substantial evidence and literature is available to endorse the efficacy of crude drug or extract of Aswagandha.
In this regard, the Ministry has issued an advisory to All ASU Drugs Manufacturers Associations seeking the manufacturers of the crude drug/extracts, sellers, ASU drug manufacturing companies, ASU drug exporters not to use Withania somnjfera leaves either in crude or extract or any other form for therapeutic purposes under the ambit of ASU drugs as per textual indications or as a food supplements in the name of ASU drugs.

Aiming to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place in the dental institutions across the Country, the Dental Council of India (DCI) has recently written to the Heads of all the Dental colleges in India to strictly implement the measures for curbing the menace of ragging in their institutes.
Further, in the letter dated October 7, 2021, the Assistant Secretary of DCI, Vinay Gupta has reminded the Principals of the Dental colleges that "as per DCI Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Dental Colleges, 2009, it is the responsibility of all the institution to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place in their dental institution and measures taken to curb it may be reviewed."
