Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is the most common type of anemia and a major public health problem in India. In this condition, there is a decreased number of healthy red blood cells that carry oxygen (hemoglobin) to the other parts/tissues of the body. This happens due to insufficient iron in the body.

Iron deficiency anemia is common especially among women and if left untreated, it can lead to serious issues. According to studies, 20% of maternal deaths are directly related to anemia and another 50% are associated with it.
