The Delhi High Court has refused to grant interim relief to two Army doctors who sought permission to apply for and appear in the NEET PG 2026 examination while their challenge to the revised eligibility criteria under the Training and Professional Progression Rules for Medical/Non-Technical Officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services, 2025 remains pending before the Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT). 

A Division Bench comprising Justices Mini Pushkarna and Vinod Kumar held that allowing the petitioners to appear in the examination would effectively suspend the operation of the 2025 Rules before their validity is finally decided. The court was hearing petitions filed by Major Jayati Chandra and Major Eshaan Segan, who challenged Rule 7.2 reducing the eligibility window for Short Service Commission officers from 4–10 years of service to 4–7 years, according to the Live Law report.

The petitioners argued that the revised rules unfairly affected their eligibility and sought interim permission as the NEET PG 2026 application deadline was June 30. However, the High Court noted that both officers had become eligible to appear for NEET PG after completing four years of service in 2022 and 2023 and had sufficient opportunities to take the examination earlier. The court observed that their inability to secure admission resulted either from personal choice or failure in the examination process. It further noted that their main challenge is already listed before the AFT on August 28, 2026, and if they ultimately succeed, they would still remain eligible to appear for NEET PG until 2028 under the earlier rules.

Congress Leader Pargat Singh Demands Pradhan's Resignation Over Alleged Exam Irregularities

All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and former Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that repeated paper leaks and examination irregularities have weakened the credibility of India's national testing system. Citing media reports, Singh claimed that 89 suspected paper leak cases over the past decade affected nearly 6.2 crore students, with 48 examinations re-conducted and 22 cancelled before being held. He alleged that the National Testing Agency (NTA) failed to ensure the integrity of major examinations, including NEET UG and UGC NET, and called for an investigation into the alleged nexus between paper leak networks and those responsible for conducting examinations.

Singh urged the Centre to introduce a fixed annual calendar for NEET UG, UGC NET, and major recruitment examinations with clearly defined recruitment timelines. He claimed that over 22 lakh families spend nearly ₹1.32 lakh crore annually on NEET preparation alone, highlighting the financial burden on students. Raising concerns over limited employment opportunities, he said only a small proportion of candidates ultimately secure permanent jobs. Singh added that the Congress, under Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, would continue demanding transparency, accountability, and comprehensive reforms to restore confidence in the examination and recruitment system, reports The Indian Express.
