The Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) recently issued clarification regarding the mandatory physical onsite compensation for online classes undertaken by Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) during their MBBS studies abroad.

Issuing a notice on March 5, 2026, the UGMEB clarified several queries raised by stakeholders and students about the requirement to compensate for online medical education through physical training.

Medical College Assessment Reports Discussed in Parliament, Centre Refers to NMC Website Disclosures

The Union Health Minister Anupriya Patel informed the Lok Sabha that all information relating to colleges, recognition of courses, seat matrix, regulations, application process, services provided to UG/PG graduates/doctors, admissions, annual renewal of medical colleges, counselling process, etc. are proactively displayed on the National Medical Commission (NMC) website.

The Minister shared the information in response to a question raised by a parliament member who sought to know whether the National Medical Commission (NMC) has stopped uploading the Annual Medical College Assessment Reports on its official website.

Jadcherla Mortuary Incident: Doctors' Association Criticises Suspension of Doctors

The Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) has strongly criticised the suspension of doctors linked to the recent incident at the mortuary of the Jadcherla Government Hospital and demanded the withdrawal of the action.

In a statement, the HRDA emphasised that the responsibility for running and maintaining a mortuary round the clock does not fall under the duties of doctors. The association clarified that the doctors are only responsible for carrying out postmortem examinations in accordance with established medical and legal protocols.
