USFDA sets national mammogram standards to protect women with dense breasts

 Approximately half of women over the age of 40 in the U.S. have dense breast tissue, a description of its appearance on a mammogram. Dense breast tissue can make cancers more difficult to detect on a mammogram. Additionally, dense breasts have been identified as a risk factor for developing breast cancer. 

NMC pulls up medical colleges not transferring AEBAS attendance IDs of faculty, issues warning

Referring to the complaints regarding the non-transfer of AEBAS IDs, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has pulled up medical institutes failing to transfer AEBAS IDs in a timely manner.

The apex medical commission has warned that strict action shall be taken against such medical college and institute including de-recognition, denial in increase of UG/PG seats etc.

Due to the non transfer of AEBAS IDs of those faculties are get transferred or appointed to a new medical institute, they face problems in marking their attendance.

NMC extends deadline, now medical colleges can apply for renewal of permission till March 17

Considering the requests of medical colleges who did not get time to apply for the renewal of permission for the academic year 2023-2024 due to NMC portal closing down early, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to give them a chance to apply.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has extended the deadline till March 17, 2023 so that such colleges can take part in the counselling process of Academic year 2023-2024.

Drug Safety Alert: Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission flags ADR linked to Cephalosporin, Amikacin

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), through its recently issued drug safety alert for the month of February, has revealed adverse drug reactions linked with popular antibiotics Cephalosporins and Amikacin.

In accordance with the drug safety alert, Amikacin causes blurred vision adverse drug reactions (ADRs), while Cephalosporins cause purpura as adverse drug reactions (ADRs).

This came after preliminary analysis of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) from the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) database.
