The Supreme Court reiterated that AYUSH doctors or Ayurveda practitioners cannot seek parity with modern medicine or Allopathic doctors.
This observation was made by the Apex Court bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan while dismissing a special leave petition filed in this regard.
After the dermatologists approached the Bombay High Court challenging the qualification of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to perform Aesthetic and Hair Transplant Surgeries, now the latter have approached the HC bench for a hearing of their side.
Filing an intervention application, the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) has submitted that they perform surgeries, operations and surgical procedures, which are far more tedious and complicated when compared to Hair Transplant Surgeries, which is a "very superficial, surface-oriented (scalp oriented) surgery, peripheral in nature."

Taking cognizance of the instances of ragging in the medical colleges including the tragic event at GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Dharpur, where an 18-year-old first-year MBBS student died, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has now issued directions to the medical colleges across the country to ensure strict implementation of the anti-ragging measures in the country.
NMC has asked the medical colleges to implement robust anti-ragging mechanisms as outlined in the Regulations, 2021 including setting up anti-ragging squads, ensuring awareness among faculty and staff, submitting annual anti-ragging reports timely, establishing a safe and conducive learning environment etc.

In a tragic incident, the body of a 43-year-old doctor was discovered in a highly decomposed state at her residence in the Soniwada area of Ghogha town near Bhavnagar city late Sunday night.
The doctor originally from Daman, had worked as a contractual doctor at a Community Health Centre (CHC) but had been unemployed since her contract ended 7–8 months ago. She lived alone and was unmarried.
