The Telangana High Court recently upheld the National Medical Commission's order of shifting the students of Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences to other medical institutes while clarifying that the NMC Act grants power to the Medical Assessment and Rating Board to transfer students from one institute to another.

"Therefore, under Section 26(1)(f) of the 2019 Act, the MARB has power to transfer the students from one institution to other institution," held the High Court bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J.Sreenivas Rao.

In a recent order, the Delhi High Court has issued directions to unidentified parties to remove deepfake videos on social media that featured the trademark of Medanta Hospital and its chairman, Dr Naresh Trehan.

Apart from this, the Court has also issued directions to the authorities to disclose on affidavit before the Court, all details, including, name, address, email address, contact details, organization and associations, URL, IP address etc. associated with the videos. The matter has been listed for further hearing on 26th May 2025.

Observing that the criteria formulated by the Madhya Pradesh Government for allotment of postgraduate medical seats under the NRI quota "fair" and "reasonable", the Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the concerned authorities to hold fresh special counselling to fill up the vacant NRI quota seats in the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 counselling and complete the admission process at the earliest.

Further, the HC Division Bench comprising Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Anuradha Shukla also noted that without any challenge to the relevant rules, the Court could not interfere with the allotment of seats under the 15% NRI quota made by private medical colleges under its Article 226 jurisdiction.

The family of a 30-year-old pregnant woman, who died at a private hospital in Manesar, allegedly due to a postpartum haemorrhage, has accused the hospital of medical negligence.

The woman, a resident of Manesar, was admitted to Saksham Health Care Hospital located in Sector-83 Manesar for delivery around 9 a.m. on January 5.

A quick thinking and immediate action of a 37-year-old doctor, fortunately, saved him from sustaining serious injuries or even death after his car suddenly caught fire on the Vandalur-Minjur Outer Ring Road.

The doctor identified as Dr Umesh Kumar experienced a near-death situation on Thursday morning when he was on his way to work at a Private Medical College Hospital near Sikkarayapuram where he was employed.
