MCC Begins NEET SS 2025 Counselling Registration, Full Schedule Released

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has begun the registration process for NEET SS counselling 2025.

The NEET-SS 2025 was conducted on 26th and 27th December 2025 for admission to various DM, MCh and DrNB Super Speciality courses for the admission session 2025-26.

For counselling to SS seats, the MCC has released the schedule for the All India Counselling for NEET Super Speciality (DM, MCh and DrNB SS) courses for the 2025 admission session, outlining key dates for registration, choice filling, seat allotment and reporting for both Round 1 and Round 2.

India Has 1.28 Lakh MBBS, 85,020 PG Seats, 818 medical colleges: Centre tells Parliament

Altogether 1,28,976 MBBS, 85,020 PG seats and 818 medical colleges are available in the country as per the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Health Ministry recently told the Parliament while citing NMC data and regulations.

Further, under CSS schemes, 4977 additional MBBS seats and 8058 additional PG seats have been approved in medical colleges across the country, Union Health Minister Smt Anupriya Patel informed the Rajya Sabha.

While informing Parliament about the increase in seat capacity in medical colleges, the Minister said that, as per the National Medical Commission, the number of medical colleges has increased by 111.36%, from 387 in 2013-14 to 818 at present.

43 Medical Colleges Added, 11,682 MBBS Seats, 8,967 PG Seats Approved for 2025-26: MoS Health

A total of 43 new medical colleges have been established and the government has approved 11,682 MBBS seats and 8,967 Postgraduate seats (including AIIMS and INIs) across the country for the 2025-26 academic year, Minister of State for Health Smt Anupriya Patel informed the parliament.

Responding to a query asked by a parliament member on whether the government has recently approved new medical education seats and new medical colleges across the country for the academic session 2026, the Minister shared details of the State/UT-wise details of the new medical colleges approved for A.Y. 2025–26 and newly approved MBBS and PG seats for A.Y. 2025–26.

Organ Transplantation: 217 Hospitals Fail to Report Data in 2025

The registration of hospitals for performing organ transplantation is granted by the appropriate authority of the concerned States/UTs where the hospital is located. Against 804 registered hospitals performing organ transplantation, 217 hospitals failed to report data on the National Registry Portal during the year 2025. As per the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), 1994, and the Rules framed thereunder, regulatory action against such hospitals is to be taken by the concerned State Governments.

The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Registry Portal have been functional since 2015 and is accessible to authorized users, including hospitals and organizations, through the website of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization.
