IT raids RJD MP Ashfaque Kareem's Katihar Medical College and Hospital
In a recent development, the Income Tax department has initiated search operations on various educational institutions owned by RJD Rajya Sabha MP Ashfaque Ahmad. This includes the renowned Katihar Medical College and Hospital, which is among the prominent institutions in the area.
Katihar Medical College is a constituent unit of Al-Karim University, Katihar is and run by the Al-Karim Education Trust, Patna with Karim being the main trustee and founder chancellor of the Katihar-based Al Karim University. The college offers MBBS courses along with several PG courses including PG in the subjects of Anatomy, Physiology,Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Bio-chemistry,Community Medicine, General Medicine, Dermatology Venereology & Leprosy,are available. Currently the medical college offers 150 MBBS seat

NMC gives deadline for medical colleges to submit MBBS admissions info online
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently asked medical institutes across the country to submit the details of the students who got admitted to the MBBS course during the academic year 2023-2024.
For this purpose, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of NMC has set the deadline as 20th October, 2023, till 12:00 pm midnight. The apex medical commission has issued such a direction to ensure that all the MBBS admissions have been made while adhering to the judicial decisions and MCI / NMC Regulations, and to make sure that no admission has been made beyond intake capacity, and eligibility criteria, qualifying marks specified under the Regulation on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 are being followed.

Do not grant or extend temporary permission to foreigners: NMC tells State Medical Councils
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently stated that the State Medical Councils (SMCs) must neither give temporary permission to foreigners nor extend the time period of temporary permission given by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the Commission.
This direction was issued by the Commission during the recent virtual meeting with the State Medical Councils on October 09, 2023. Among other issues, the issue of extension of temporary registration scrutinized was also discussed.
